A helping hand in Africa

Volunteer / Charity Trips

There are a number of volunteer / community projects in Africa and some of these are on the overland tourist route.

If you are travelling with us through Uganda you will have the opportunity to volunteer with Soft Power Education.

Soft Power Education (SPE) is a British registered charity and Ugandan NGO working with communities in Uganda to improve quality of life through education.

They offer three different volunteer / charity trips packages:

  • One Day Volunteering
  • Long Term Volunteering

Please refer to the above web link for more information on volunteering with Soft Power in Uganda.

Our 20 day Gorillas Adventures allow for one or two days ‘Volunteering’ with Soft Power Education as an ‘Optional’ Activity.

Previous overland crew and colleagues have volunteered at New Life Home Trust.

New Life Home Trust was born through the founding of a baby rescue home in Nairobi, Kenya in 1994.  The founders, Clive and Mary Beckenham, had been involved in a number of humanitarian projects when they became aware of the plight of abandoned and orphaned babies, particularly those born HIV positive.

New Live Home Trust have ‘homes’ located in The Ark (Nairobi), Nakuru, Bethel Nakuru, Kilimani, Nyeri and Kisumu.  Check out their website for more information.
